Bypass Those Annoying Internet Filters

If you're tired of finding a filter that blocks MySpace on a school or work computer then look no further. It is quite simple to bypass most filters that are found on a typical school or office network, although some may seem almost impossible to bypass.

Although the filters do in fact block sites to some extent, it is almost impossible to block a site in its entirety. The main way that students or employees bypass an internet filter is through the use of a proxy. Proxy sites have become plentiful since more and more schools and employers are applying filters to their network.

There are literally hundreds if not thousands of sites that allow you to bypass internet filters. Since there are so many I am not going to do into the detail of listing them here, but I did leave a way to find the most recent proxies at the end of this article.

Before you go insane because you found out that your filter also blocks most of the proxy sites allow me to inform you that there is a way around the filter for these sites.

For example, let’s say that you are trying to access a proxy site, but you notice that it is blocked. More than likely you typed in the proxy URL in the browser as follows: “http://www.sitenamehere.com”. If you find that the filter is blocking access to a proxy website do the following: Instead of putting “http://” at the beginning of the URL put “https://”.

ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW:

When you are viewing a website that begins with “https://” you are viewing a “secure” site, which means that others can not “eavesdrop” on the information that is being sent from the computer and the website. By replacing the http with https you will bypass most filters!

Another way to bypass an internet filter is to use the Internet Protocol (IP) Address instead of the actual domain name. To do this open up command prompt (start > run > CMD) and type “ping http://www.sitenamehere.com”. After you obtain the IP address type it into your URL bar and hit enter, tada!

That’s the most widely used ways to bypass internet filters. There are more complicated ways, but there’s no reason to use them if the easier ways work just fine. Now, as promised, here is how to find a list of the most recent, unfiltered proxy sites: Go to your favorite search engine (i.e. Google, Yahoo, and Msn) and type in “proxy list”. Trust me, after this you’ll have more than enough proxies for you and all of your friends.
